The Davis-Kell Farm
The Davis-Kell Farm is situated on the historic Chemin des Cantons, or Townships Trail, in the municipality of Ogden, close to the Vermont border.
The farm is an
apt venue for "Art and the Automobile." After all, Henry
Seth Taylor built Canada’s first "horseless carriage" in
1867 in Stanstead, a stone’s throw away. Taylor forgot
to put brakes on his self-propelled steam buggy, and it
crashed when he descended a steep hill. Fortunate to
have escaped the wreck, Taylor switched to building
steamboats, but his partially successful car experiment
inspired other inventors' dreams of automotive travel.
During "Art and the Automobile," there
will be ample
time for everyone to
relax, chat, look at the automobile
show or the art show, or stroll
around the farm and
watch
the
sun set over
Mount Owl’s Head. |
